Early this morning we packed up Baby and took her out on I95 for a test run. Got her up to speed and made sure she was completely warmed up. Then we drove back to H&H Freightliner so they could check and be sure everything was working properly. Gene, the mechanic who worked on Baby and Steve, the company president both crawled under the coach and said, "All systems go!!" We can't say enough good things about these folks and the great service we received. So if you ever need work on a Freightliner chassis... H&H Freightliner, Hope Mills, NC will really take care of you.
It was about 10am when we finally made our way to Huntington Beach SP in Murrells Inlet SC. This was the last day of our 4 day reservation.
Just about lunch time we arrived on site 125.
Nancy was feeling really lousy by the time we arrived. Her right eye was swollen and itchy and she was all congested. So as soon as we got set up, she took some cold medicine and tried to get some rest. I spent that time getting Baby all cleaned up:o))
Nancy was feeling a little better when she got up. Now we needed to figure out where we can stay for the next 4 nights. Originally, we were going to Clinton, SC to participate in the Flight of the Dove, Charity Bike Ride for Hospice. But we cancelled as we did not know if we would be fixed in time. Nancy got online and found one site here at Huntington for Thursday, tomorrow...booked that. But there was nothing available over the weekend. We checked Buck Hall, where we have reservations starting on Monday. They had site 4 available on Saturday and Sunday...booked that. So we still had to figure our Friday night. There's always tomorrow;o))
Thursday, August 16
We got back to our routine or walking first thing in the morning. We took it nice and easy and checked out the park.
First stop...the beach!!
Then we headed out the causeway.
All the Wood Storks were in the trees!!!
Next, we headed to the nature center and walked the boardwalk.
A Green Heron was willing to let me get close;o))
After our walk, we needed to MOVE to site 37.
Not much to write home about,
but at least we were still at Huntington.
After lunch, we went to visit Nancy's Mom. We had hoped to spend a few days with her, but sometimes you can't control how things go. We will be back in a couple of weeks and have more time. Just very difficult to get reservations at the beach in the summer.
When we got back to Huntington, I spoke to the camground host about a place to stay tomorrow. We really did not want to go to one of the Mega Campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. Besides the fact that they are about $70 per night, we just hate getting into all that congestion. He suggested a new campground at Bucksport Marinia. I knew exactly where the Marina was as I used to service the water treatment plant located next door. We called and got a site there for Friday night. So tomorrow, we will be moving again;o((
Friday, August 17
We got up and headed for a walk just before Sunrise.
Saw the sunrise from the causeway.
Today, the Wood Storks were in the water:o))
After our walk and breakfast,
we head to our third camp site in 3 days;o((
If we could get to the campground the way the birds would fly, we would only have to go about 5 miles to the otherside of the Waccamaw River. But Baby won't fly, so we had about 50 miles to travel. The campground is very new and really a fancy parking lot next to the marina. Seems at little expensive at $40 a night. However, they have FREE laundry service which saved us about $15. So for a place to park for the night, it was OK.
We thought Sherry and David had beat us here.
Sure looks like Winnona parked next to us;o)))
Once we got set up, I did the laundry while Nancy made a grocery list and did a little cleaning. Once the chores were done, we headed back to Georgetown to grocery shop. When we got back, we checked out the marina. If it hadn't been so hot, we could have put the kayak in, but NOT today!!
I got some fishing advice.
The campground is located along the Waccamaw River.
This photo is for "The Pelicans"
Look in the center of the photo.
Remember the little green building with the snake?!?!
Seaweeds Bar & Grill is on the dock.
I treated Nancy to dinner out!!
Guess who ate what???
Saturday, August 18
Ok, here we go again....moving again!! We took our time as we only had a short drive to Buck Hall Recreation Area in McClellanville, SC.
We moved in to Site 4 for 2 days.
Here are our neighbors...no air conditioner ;o(((
It's a great site near the intracoastal waterway.
Better yet, we don't have to MOVE for 10 days!!!
I don't think I could ever forget that little green building nor the snake that was guarding it. Ummm..thanks for the memory! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMakes a body tired thinking about all that moving! At least your new site is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI'm more impressed with the size of that drink than that burger you had! Looks like a gallon, at least!
ReplyDeleteSorry your having to play campsite ping-pong, but you're making it work. Glad your repair was so cheap and easy (unlike Howard and Linda's) and you got rolling again.
Oh I just hate to have to move every night. So sorry! Don't you wish they'd all hurry up and go back to work and school. LOL! That's so mean. I have to remember this may be their only fun of the year and we're (mostly) having fun every day.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of moving in a few days. Luckily it wasn't 500 miles of travel each day.
ReplyDeleteYes Tricia can paddle backwards pretty fast.
Syl
Ugh! That's a lot of moving.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbors may not have an air conditioner, but it looks like they have a carport. :-)
Glad you are all fixed up. We will be glad when we can sit for 10 days again.
ReplyDeleteI hate moving that often too, but sometimes you just have to do it, I guess. Glad you got the motorhome fixed up. I've made a note of H&H in case we're ever in need of repairs in that area.
ReplyDeleteSorry about all the moving, but it looks like you are in a nice place. Dianne cleaned up my computer so I can now comment, again. A miracle.
ReplyDeleteMoving that often is a pain. Now 10 days sounds wonderful...enjoy!
