FLORIDA TRIP - Chores and R & R - Friday, January 14, 2011

When I woke up this morning Nancy was already up and working on the blog from yesterday. We had both decided that today would basically be a chill day. I drove out early to fill the Tahoe with gas while Nancy continued to work on the blog.

When I got back, I took a couple loads of wash to the ‘Open Air’ Laundry while Nancy finished up entering the blog and made fresh peanut-cashew butter to replenish our stash. As long as we have our peanut butter, we are never without something to eat!!

Peanut-Cashew Butter stash is complete!!!

After lunch, we went for a leisurely walk through the State Park. Nancy got to retake some of the photos she accidentally deleted the other day. Nancy and I really like this park. It has miles of hiking trails, a river and hundreds of acres of natural vegetation and wildlife. We can bike, hike or kayak without leaving the park. Can’t ask for anything more except maybe a heated bath house!!

When we returned from the walk, I work on starting a fire.
I managed to get a fire built even though the wood I used was damp and basically un-split. Nancy fixed dinner and then came outside long enough to get a picture before heading back into the WARM van.

We did have a minor glitch with the van today. When we turned on the hot water heater to do dishes, the pressure relief valve opened up and water came pouring out!! Soooo…..no hot water! Not a big deal since we don’t shower in the van. We will just wash the dishes at the campground utility sink. I will wait until we get home to get it fixed. Don’t need it enough to waste playtime fixing the van.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the warmest day of the week. I think the Sea Eagle will be inflated and taken for a little cruise. That sounds like a lot more fun than fixing a water heater!!

  1. You sure like you are having a ball! Wish we were there instead of packing boxes and moving and, and,.. :)

  2. Sounds like a great place. Just my kind where I don't have to drive anywhere to hike or kayak to my heart's delight.

Cold showers....water heater problems.....just remember that very soon you will have a big grown up Class A with hot water in a big shower and a big sink. :-)

Looking forward to those kayaking pictures. Hugs to you both!

  3. Why does it have to be so cold when you get a chance to vacation? Did your laundry freeze before it dried?

Liked the interior of that Newmar you pictured yesterday. I wish we had the tile floor instead of the carpet in ours. It will be a good pick for you (until you see the next one). Shopping sure is fun and you will know when the right one comes along.

Now, are you going to tour the Newmar factory? That sounds like a great idea!
